In this city, time isn't a metaphor. It's the currency. The clock at the top of the screen is how much life you have left, and it drains every second you're standing there — faster with every shift you survive.

You run the counter at a burger joint. Build the order, serve it fast, get paid in seconds of life. Dawdle and your margin shrinks. Botch it and the clock takes the difference. Chain perfect serves to stack a combo multiplier and squeeze more time out of every customer.

But staying alive is a job of its own. You still have to eat. You still have to hit the bathroom. Skip it and you slow down when you can least afford to. The government takes a time tax with no appeal process. Loan sharks offer you twenty seconds now for forty later. A gambler wants to flip a coin for your life. A beggar just wants ten seconds — and you have to decide whether you can spare them.

Seven shifts. One week. The clock only gets hungrier.
